She shared such wonderful insight and her gift of a second sight was a wonderful layer to this story. I loved how her parents recognized this spirit in their daughter and didn’t try to squash it. She’s not afraid to speak her mind and she definitely goes after what she wants. Naomi is a very young woman but she’s not one to hold back. Harmon’s characters are also so engaging and captivating. I could picture in my mind’s eye the people walking along this wagon train and the various issues they came across. I find Harmon’s writing to be so eloquent and descriptive and that is exactly what she delivered in this romance novel. To be honest I’m not sure a historical romance novel about life on the wagon trail would have been my first choice in this genre but when Amy Harmon writes it, you pick it up.Īnd let me say that she didn’t disappoint. But life on the Trail is filled with hardship and death and staying together may be the toughest thing of all. Naomi and her family set out on the Oregon Trail for a better life in California where she meets and falls for a half-Pawnee man.
